THE JAIN WAY: PAST AND PRESENT OF AN INDIAN RELIGION (Fall 2023 T/TH 12:30-1:50)

The course, put together in collaboration with the Rietberg Museum, Zurich (Switzerland), is a tribute to the recent exhibition Being Jain: Art and Culture of an Indian Religion held at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich (Switzerland) from November 2022 to April 2023 (https://rietberg.ch/en/exhibitions/being-jain

The course will explore the past and present of the Indian religion of Jainism highlighting some of its aspects that hold a special relevance in today’s world, such as environmental protection, sustainability, and the emphasis on a less consumeristic lifestyle. The course is the result of a collaboration with the Rietberg Museum and features original material from the exhibition, such as documentaries, guest lectures, interviews, and a very special board game that students can have fun with!
